On December 16, 2021, Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) released the findings of a poll conducted to identify the most popular candidate for Nairobi governor.
Johnson Sakaja, the current Nairobi Senator, emerged as the top contender with 30% support, beating Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris who secured 11% of the votes.
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi completed the top three with 6% support, while 24% of the sample population remained undecided about their preferred candidate.
Other notable candidates included Bishop Margaret Wanjiru with 5% support, businesswoman Agnes Kagure with 4%, and Nairobi Metropolitan Services boss Mohamed Badi with 1%.
Former governor Mike Sonko trailed behind with 2% popularity.
The poll was conducted between November 7 and 13, 2021, with a sample size of 1,591 respondents who were interviewed telephonically after their contacts were collected face-to-face.
