Britam Appoints AfricInvest to its Board

Published on July 8, 2019, Britam, Kenya's leading insurance firm, has made a significant move by appointing AfricInvest to its board of directors. The board consists of 12 members, with AfricInvest being the largest shareholder, holding a 17.55 per cent stake valued at approximately KSh3.6 billion.

AfricInvest is a private equity company registered in Mauritius, comprising German-based Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, Netherland's FMO, and French firm Proparco. George Odo, AfricInvest's Managing Director, has been appointed to represent the firm on Britam's board. With over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, George has worked as a Senior Partner in AfricInvest and oversees operations in the Eastern and Southern African region.

George has been a non-executive director on Britam's board since July 2018 and his appointment as AfricInvest representative took effect on July 4, 2019.
