On Saturday night, reggae fans in Nairobi were left disappointed by a poor performance from Jamaican king of lovers rock Jah Cure at the Umoja Splash Festival at Uhuru Gardens.

Despite making a dramatic entrance at 2:15am in traditional Maasai attire, Jah Cure failed to live up to his high billing, with a rungu and mic in hand and an escort of six Maasai Morans.

However, his performance was marred by technical issues, including a malfunctioning sound system that left him struggling to communicate with the crowd for almost 10 minutes.

As the night wore on, Jah Cure's performance only seemed to get worse, with him taking long breaks between songs and resorting to letting the crowd sing to his hits while he took on the role of a 'cheer leader'.

One fan was heard screaming, 'Can't he just sing, he keeps talking too much in between the set. We don't wanna hear the stories please.'

By 3:30am, many revelers had had enough and started leaving, with some resorting to shisha puffing and others chewing miraa and 'jaba' due to a shortage of alcohol.

However, one thing that never seemed to run out was weed, as thick smoke formed clouds over the revelers' heads throughout the night.
