On July 8, 2019, the High Court delivered a significant blow to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, ruling in favor of businessman Peter Nderitu in a long-standing land dispute.

The court ordered the demolition of the Glad Tidings Crusade Ministry structures in Buru Buru, which Nderitu claimed were erected illegally on his property.

According to court documents, the church had sold the property to Nderitu on July 30, 2018, with an agreement to deliver all transfer documents within three months to Landmark International Properties, owned by Nderitu.

However, the church placed a caution on the property, preventing the registrar of lands from processing documents to show Nderitu as the rightful owner.

Despite Governor Sonko's efforts to protect the church, the court ultimately sided with Nderitu, allowing him to clear the illegal structures under tight police security.

It's worth noting that this ruling comes after a previous incident in May, where Governor Sonko had fiercely protected the church and even retaliated against Nderitu by demolishing his business complex in Nairobi CBD.
