On December 14, 2021, Nairobi County unveiled a Sh400 million hospital in Mathare North, named after Margaret Kenyatta, Kenya's third First Lady.
The hospital, Mama Margaret Kenyatta Hospital, has a 359-bed capacity and is the biggest hospital under the management of Nairobi County Government.
Located in Mathare North, the five-storey facility aims to reduce the patient load at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, also a Level 5 facility.
The hospital has a floor dedicated to attend to boda boda injuries, making it a unique facility in the region.
