Published on July 7, 2019, National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale has announced plans to re-table the division of revenue allocation bill in Parliament.
Speaking in Garissa over the weekend, Duale stated that they want to republish the original bill as drafted by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich.
He emphasized that if they agree on a figure, both houses will amend their bills before publication.
Further negotiations are expected between the Council of Governors, the Senate, the Commission of Revenue Allocation, and the National Treasury.
The two Houses have been divided over the allocation of funds to counties in the 2019/20 financial year, with the National Assembly insisting on Ksh310 billion and the Senate wanting Ksh327 billion.
Last week, Council of Governors chairman and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya warned that counties would grind to a halt if the Bill is not passed quickly.
