On Saturday, July 6, 2019, Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli strengthened his friendship with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta by presenting him with special gifts.

According to Magufuli, the gifts, four peacocks, were his first to another country. However, the gifts came with a condition.

Magufuli made it clear that when the peacocks eventually give birth, he expects President Kenyatta to return the chicks to Tanzania.

“I will give you four peacocks, and when they give birth, I expect you to return the chicks to Tanzania,” Magufuli said.

Despite the condition, Magufuli was touched by President Kenyatta’s kind gesture of visiting his father’s grave and his ailing mother Suzana Magufuli at her home in Chato.

Later, a video emerged online of President Kenyatta saying a short prayer for President Magufuli’s mother.

“President Kenyatta is a special person, he has come to visit my father’s grave and my siblings, and he has also visited my ailing mother and held her hand, showing her great love,” Magufuli said.
