July 7, 2019 - In a move that has sent shockwaves through the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Deputy CEO Michael Mubea has tendered his resignation. The development comes as he prepares to take up the ambassadorial appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to a memo by the EACC Acting human Resource Director Ellyjoy Bundi, Mubea's departure is effective from July 1. He is set to take up the position of Kenyan Ambassador to Ireland.

Finance and Planning Director Jennifer Kimani's contract, on the other hand, expired on June 30.

President Uhuru Kenyatta made several changes in his administration in May, appointing 15 senior government officials as Ambassadors and High Commissioners. Mubea was among those appointed, and he was later vetted by the National Assembly Defense and Foreign Relations Committee.
