Honest Kirinyaga Woman Returns Client's Forgotten Money and Medicine

Published on July 7, 2019, at 08:09:06.

A taxi driver in Kirinyaga county, Kenya, has been praised for her honesty after returning a client's forgotten money and medicine.

Wanjiru Wanjiru, a full-time taxi driver from Kirinyaga county, was on her usual routine of picking and dropping clients when she received a call to pick five customers who wanted to be driven home.

Among the clients was an elderly woman who was either in her late 50s or early 60s. The five, who did not know each other, were leaving their various business premises in Kerugoya heading towards Kagumo town.

While cleaning the car the next day, Wanjiru found an old purse under the back seat of the car. Out of curiosity, she opened it to check its contents and found KSh 9,000, medicine for hypertension, and personal documents of one of the clients.

Wanjiru searched through the documents and found a contact of the elderly woman she had picked at Kerugoya and dropped at Kagumo town. She called the woman, Margaret Wanja Nyanu, and returned her money and medicine.

Wanjiru has since received a lot of applause from the online community after sharing her story.
