Government spokesman Col (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna assured contractors that President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive on clearance of pending bills will be implemented.

Speaking at the Mbeere South Constituency Innovation Hub in Embu County on July 6, 2019, Oguna blamed delays in payment on auditing.

He also assured Huduma Namba clerks that they will be paid their wages in two weeks' time, stating that the government is aware that not all clerks have been paid.

“The government is aware that the people who carried out the Huduma Namba registration have not all been paid, but I want to assure them that they will be paid in two weeks. The money is being paid in phases,” he said.

On the Digital Literacy Programme, Oguna noted that 19,666 schools have been supplied with devices containing digital content for Grade One to Three, while 200,000 teachers have been trained.

Additionally, more than 22,980 schools have been connected to electricity, with distribution of devices to the remaining 2,063 schools set to start on July 15.
