On Sunday, the Embu 7s tournament will reach its business end, with several thrilling matches lined up at the Njukiri ASK grounds in Embu.

Strathmore Leos will take on Menengai Oilers, while Nondies face off against Catholic University Monks. Stanbic Mwamba will renew their rivalry with Mean Machine, and Top Fry will battle it out with Northern Suburbs in what promises to be mouth-watering duels.

Meanwhile, in the lower division, top-rated Embu will face a tough challenge from their Central countrywide league rivals Meru, while Masaku have been drawn against Chuka University.

On Saturday, Strathmore Leos edged out Mean Machine 20-19 in an entertaining varsity derby that kept the huge crowd on its feet.

Strathmore drew first blood through Lucas Opal, but Mean Machine hit back after Jude Baraka of Strathmore was sin-binned. The match took a nail-biting turn, with Strathmore making another try through Opal, before Mean Machine replied with two tries and one successful conversion to take a 19-15 lead. However, Richard Oredo scored a try at the death to seal the win for Strathmore.

Strathmore had earlier beaten Kirinyaga 41-0, Masaku 21-7, and Mean Machine 20-19 in their previous matches.
