On July 3, 2019, a group of friends, including Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe, stormed Muthaiga police station after the arrest of Dennis Itumbi, taking selfies as they stood in solidarity with him.

The investigating team has accused officers manning the station of allowing Itumbi's friends to enter a restricted area, sparking allegations of misconduct.

According to Nairobi Police Boss Philip Ndolo, 'For the 11 to be inside the offices it means that someone somewhere allowed them in and that is also the person or persons of interest in this matter.'

Maribe and her crew risk imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding Sh20,000 or both, as stipulated in Section 60 (1) of the Police Act.

Maribe and her fiancé Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu are the main suspects in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani, and Maribe was released on a cash bail of Sh1 million.
