On Friday, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) made a significant seizure at the port of Mombasa, intercepting 144 drums of imported ethanol.

According to KRA officials, a multi-agency team conducted a 100% verification of the consignment, which consisted of two twenty-foot containers carrying over 28,000 litres of ethanol.

The taxman estimates that the seizure could have resulted in a loss of over Ksh.12 million in taxes.

Additionally, KRA seized a Range Rover sports vehicle, which was misdeclared as second-hand window frames and doors, folding chairs, stools, and wall pictures.

The vehicle is suspected to have been stolen from the UK.
