Uhuru Kenyatta's Tanzania Visit: A Diplomatic Gesture

On July 5, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Tanzania for a two-day visit, where he was warmly received by President John Pombe Magufuli.

During his visit, Kenyatta chose not to comment on the recent football match between Kenya and Tanzania in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where Harambee Stars defeated Taifa Stars 3-2.

Speaking at a function, Kenyatta said that the two teams had a fair game, with no one team dominating the other. He added that Kenya's victory was a result of their hard work and determination.

President Magufuli also spoke at the function, saying that Kenyatta had come to apologize for Kenya's victory. Magufuli explained that the two teams had agreed to play a 2-2 draw, but Kenya's third goal changed the outcome of the game.

The visit was a diplomatic gesture by Kenyatta to strengthen ties between Kenya and Tanzania. The two leaders are expected to discuss various issues, including trade and economic cooperation.
