On July 6, 2019, Benin made history by beating Morocco 4-1 on penalties to reach the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time.
Mama Seibou's winning penalty sealed the win for Benin, who played the final 23 minutes of extra time with 10 men after Khaled Adenon was sent off.
Benin took the lead through Moise Adilehou's close-range volley following a corner, but Morocco equalised through Youssef En-Nesyri after a mistake by Jordan Adeoti.
Despite peppering Benin's goal with 22 shots, Morocco lacked cutting edge and were ultimately eliminated from the tournament.
Benin will now face Senegal in the quarter-finals on July 10, 2019.
