President Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his disappointment during the memorial service of the late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore at All Saints Cathedral on Thursday, July 4, 2019. He had been looking forward to collecting his 'special gift' from Collymore's house.

According to the Directors Blend Whisky marker website, Diageo, the whiskey edition was released in 2010 and was exclusively for Diageo directors. Uhuru's whiskey bottle was labeled number 138.

Collymore had reserved the Directors Blend Whisky for a 'Very Special guest', which was initially intended for President Kenyatta. However, when the President failed to show up, Collymore invited his close friends and business partners, known as the 'Boys' Club', to be his special guests.

The 'Boys' Club' consists of prominent Kenyans, including Jeff Koinange, Joshua Oigara, Peter Kenneth, Bharat Thakrar, Lamin Manjang, Patrick Waqo, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, Dr. SK Macharia, Francis Atwoli, Chris Kirubi, Ramah Chandaria, Nic Hailey, and Patric Njoroge.

Uhuru told the 'Boys' Club' that they would have to pay for the gift, as it did not belong to them. The Directors Blend Whisky retails at Ksh460,000 and has an alcoholic content volume of 46 per cent.
