On July 6, 2019, a group of orphans living at Zion Children's Home in Kasarani were suddenly evicted from their premises, leaving them without a home.

According to Margaret Mwangi, the founder of the center, the eviction was a result of a long-standing feud over land ownership.

"We have been living here for the past 10 years and have always paid our rent on time," Mwangi said in an interview with Nairobi News. "In fact, we have paid in excess of Sh 110, 000 in rent over the years."

Despite their efforts to pay rent and negotiate with the landowners, the center was still evicted, with all their properties, including mattresses and clothes, being taken out and placed by the roadside.

A neighbor who witnessed the eviction described seeing four men storming out of the center's main house, carrying household items.
