July 6, 2019, marked a significant day for Jacque Maribe, a news anchor at Citizen TV, as she resigned from her position amidst her ongoing murder trial.
Maribe, who is out on bail, was facing a murder charge over the brutal killing of businesswoman Monica Kimani. The bail conditions, set by Justice James Wakiaga, included a restriction on Maribe reading news or commenting on matters related to the case.
According to the bail conditions, Maribe was not allowed to interview anyone related to the case, make contact with prosecution witnesses, or participate in any interviews directly or indirectly involved in the case.
Maribe was released on Sh1 million cash bail and granted an alternative of Sh2 million bond or three sureties of a similar amount.
