Cameroon's goal-shy Indomitable Lions are banking on forward Karl Toko Ekambi to rediscover his La Liga form when they face Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations last-16 match in Egypt on Saturday.
Ekambi was the leading Villarreal scorer in the Spanish top flight last season with 10 goals, but has failed to find the net for the Indomitable Lions in three group matches.
Former Dutch star Clarence Seedorf, Cameroon's coach, deflected media criticism away from his misfiring forwards, saying: "Sometimes teams do not score for weeks and forwards do not score for months."
Seedorf added, "Karl and the other forwards have to improve a few details, be smarter and create more chances."
Cameroon and Nigeria have a history of closely contested matches, including a 2004 first-round knockout defeat for Cameroon at the hands of Nigeria.
Only once did more than one goal separate the sides in their six previous encounters, including three finals that Cameroon won.
