Everton FC legends Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman are in the country ahead of the highly anticipated international friendly match between Everton and Kenya's Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
According to the duo, the Sharks should take an attacking approach to make the match exciting for the fans. This will be the first pre-season friendly match for the Toffees, who resumed training on Monday.
Everton, who retained the SportPesa Trophy last year by thrashing K'Ogalo 4-0 in a historic Goodison Park encounter, will be looking to build on their previous success. The team's chartered flight is expected to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 8 am tomorrow.
Osman believes that the Sharks can capitalise on the English side's off-season rustiness, saying, “Everton resumed training this week and their fitness level is improving. Sharks have been preparing and seems they have built stamina for the tie.”
Pienaar echoed Osman's sentiments, urging the Sharks to have fun and give their fans an exciting performance. “We know Sharks have prepared well. Let them be composed and have fun as we look forward to an interesting match on the day,” he said.
Organisers of the highly anticipated fixture have revealed that regular tickets for the match are almost sold out, with a total of 60,000 tickets printed.
