On November 9, 2021, a group of residents from Karen wrote to the Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, expressing their concerns over the disturbance and insecurity caused by Deputy President William Ruto's activities in the area.
The letter, signed by James Hirst, the Chairperson and Secretary of the Karen Residents Association, cited a worrying rise in cases of disturbance and insecurity, which they attribute to Ruto's presence in the area.
According to the letter, the residents have been experiencing constant complaints from their members residing along Karen Road and commuters who use the same route. They claim that since Ruto began hosting multiple groups of guests in his compound, life has become difficult for commuters along Karen Road, which is often gridlocked with traffic whenever his guests visit.
The residents also alleged that the traffic gridlock has led to an increase in cases of muggings, which are perpetrated by aliens masquerading as visitors of the Deputy President.
They wrote, 'Residents have complained of rising cases of mugging along the route conducted by aliens masquerading as visitors to your residence.'
The group asked the police boss to immediately look into the matter and find ways to restore 'peace and tranquility' in the estate.
