US Women's Soccer Team forward Alex Morgan has stated that the team will make a collective decision on whether to accept an invitation to visit President Donald Trump at the White House after the World Cup final.

Speaking ahead of the final against the Netherlands on Sunday, Morgan said that the team would not make any decisions about the invitation until after the game.

She also expressed her surprise at the criticism she received for her 'sipping tea' celebration after scoring the winning goal in the semi-final against England, saying that there is a double standard for female athletes in sports.

Morgan stated that she was disappointed in English forward Lianne Sanderson's reaction to the celebration, calling it 'disrespectful' to the England players.

On July 5, 2019, Morgan's comments came after US winger Megan Rapinoe's forceful comments that she would not attend any White House celebration prompted President Trump to respond in a series of tweets.
