On July 5, 2019, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta touched down at Chato airport in Tanzania, beginning a two-day private visit to the country.
President Kenyatta's visit was at the invitation of his Tanzanian counterpart, President Magufuli.
Upon arrival, the Kenyan head of state inspected a special guard of honour and witnessed the playing of the national anthems of both countries.
Speaking shortly after his arrival, President Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received from the people of Chato and Tanzania.
"I am very happy to be amongst you, I am the first foreign president to come to Chato, I come here most importantly as a brother and a friend," said President Kenyatta.
He also added, "You can choose your friends but not your neighbours."
