The photos, which were taken on Tuesday, went viral on social media platforms, prompting Nairobi Regional Commander Philip Ndolo to take action.

According to Ndolo, Kimengua was interdicted for giving Itumbi too much freedom, saying, "The OCS is the officer in charge of a police station and is therefore responsible for whatever goes on in the station."

Itumbi is currently being detained at the Muthaiga Police Station over a letter that allegedly alludes to the plotting of the assassination of Deputy President William Ruto.

Until his arrest, Itumbi was working in the office of the Deputy President.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is also pursuing 256 members of the Tanga Tanga WhatsApp group where the letter was first posted.
