Team Ineos chief Dave Brailsford announced on July 5, 2019, that Chris Froome had left the hospital and returned home, a day before the start of the Tour de France.

According to Brailsford, Froome was in good spirits and had been visited by many of his teammates, including Luke Rowe, before leaving the rehabilitation centre on July 4, 2019.

Froome, a four-time winner of the Tour de France, suffered multiple fractures in a high-speed crash on June 12, 2019, during a training run before a stage of the Criterium du Dauphine in France.

"Chris left hospital and even put his feet on the ground for the first time yesterday," Brailsford said.

"He really is in remarkable spirits all things considered," he added.

Geraint Thomas, who won the Tour for Team Sky last year, will lead the Ineos bid when the race gets underway in Brussels on July 6, 2019.
