On July 5, 2019, Uni Industries East Africa unveiled the Macadams Self-Cooking Centre, a revolutionary cooking facility that enables caterers to cook for large groups on the go.
The centre, manufactured by German cooking equipment manufacturer Rational, is designed to minimize supervision and cook a variety of products simultaneously without losing moisture.
Regional Managing Director Moez Manji explained that the new technology has gained popularity in the USA and Europe and is now being introduced to the booming Kenyan hospitality industry.
"We expect this innovation to enhance cooking various items faster and uniformly, saving customers on labor and energy costs," Manji said.
The Macadams Self-Cooking Centre comes in various sizes, with a six-tray unit costing approximately Ksh 1.4 million and larger ones in the region of Ksh 5 million.
Uni East Africa has also introduced the mobile kitchen on wheels concept to the Kenyan market, allowing entrepreneurs to set up a kitchen on a truck and move it to any location at any time.
"The mobile cooking concept is gaining popularity worldwide, and it's time for Kenya's young entrepreneurs to explore it," Manji added.
