On November 4, 2021, a Nairobi West man's love for samosas turned violent, resulting in the destruction of his father's hotel.
Ahmed Hussein Mohammed, the accused, appeared before Kibera Magistrate Derrick Kuto, facing charges of damaging property worth at least Ksh 21,000.
According to the charge sheet, Mohammed entered the hotel around 10 am, demanding samosas, but was told they were out of stock. He then ordered the staff to prepare others, but they informed him they had also run out of ingredients and would have to wait till they restocked.
Angered by the response, Mohammed went on a rampage, destroying everything on-site, including a food display glass, a mobile phone, and three melanin cups, valued at Sh21,600.
One of the staff immediately informed Mohammed's father, who arrived at the hotel and upon seeing the damage, called the police from Akili Police Station, who arrested and booked his son.
While responding to the charges, Mohammed said the charges were true 'but not the whole truth.'
A plea of not guilty was entered, and he was released on a cash bail of Ksh30,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh 100,000. The case continues on November 17, 2021.
