Published on November 4, 2021, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued an update on the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway affecting the flow of traffic on Mombasa Road and Waiyaki Way.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution, especially during the rainy season, as the onset of rains may cause disruptions to the normal traffic flow. KeNHA has noted that the construction of the Expressway is in top gear, with the Operation and Monitoring Centre now standing at 98% completion.
According to KeNHA, the sections of the road that are complete and ready for use include Mlolongo Weighbridge to KAPA Industries, Gateway Mall to Hilton Gardens, Sameer Park to Southern Bypass, and David Osieli Road linking Aga Khan School.
The Haile Selassie to University Way Roundabout is set to be reopened for motorists starting December 15, with the elevated section along that route standing at 87.7% complete. KeNHA has also assured motorists that the construction of the Expressway is in top gear and everything is being done to complete the project as scheduled.
Additionally, the company building the state-of-the-art road project, Moja Expressway Company, has employed over 4,000 Kenyans across different cadres, besides using locally procured tons of construction materials required for the project.
