Uganda Cranes skipper Denis Onyango has expressed confidence in his team ahead of their round of 16 match against Senegal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Onyango, who has been a key player for the Cranes, stated that his team is not scared of any opponent, including Senegal, who are considered one of the tournament favorites.
Speaking ahead of the crucial match, Onyango emphasized that his team will go out to enjoy the game and will not play with fear.
“Uganda Cranes is not afraid of anyone. We shall enjoy the moment and take on Senegal. The most important thing is the game ahead of us,” Onyango said.
Onyango's comments come after the Cranes camp was recently hit by a players' strike, which has since been resolved. The strike was caused by a row between the players and the Uganda football federation (FUFA) concerning allowances and bonuses.
Despite the challenges, Onyango remains upbeat and is confident that his team will secure a quarter-final stage ticket when they face Senegal on Friday, July 5, at Cairo International Stadium.
