Published on July 5, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta's tribute to the late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore at All Saints Cathedral revealed his regret over missing a chance to collect a 'special gift' reserved for him.

According to Uhuru, he was supposed to collect the gift from Collymore, but it seems he missed the opportunity. He vowed to make those who took the gift pay, saying, 'That did not belong to you.'

Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth had earlier revealed that Collymore had saved a limited edition Johnnie Walker, director's blend, for a 'very special guest.' The bottle was labelled 138 of 504 bottles in that edition.

Since the special guest didn't turn up, Collymore insisted that Kenneth and his friends from the Boys' Club – consisting of media personality Jeff Koinange, KCB Group CEO Joshua Oigara, Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo, Standard Chartered, Nigeria CEO Lamin Manjang, and Scanad CEO Bharat Thakrar – take the gift instead.

KCB CEO Oigara described Collymore as a 'very authentic even in difficult situations' and praised his extraordinary courage.

Scanad CEO Bharat Thakrar added that it was the first time Patrick Quarcoo had ever had whisky, and even Bob Collymore himself took a shot.
