On June 8, 2021, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb Amina Mohamed visited Olympics-bound teams at Kasarani Stadium, a move that would later be scrutinized in the Senate.

However, the storm surrounding FKF intensified on the floor of the Senate, where Amina faced a hail of criticism over her decision to order an audit of the football body.

The FKF is under investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) for alleged financial impropriety, following a court ruling that allowed the sleuths to probe the body.

Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr sought a statement from the Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, questioning the nature of the inspection and the documents required for the audit.

Senator Samson Cherargei called for Amina's resignation, citing 'mega corruption' in the Sports Ministry, while Senator Abdulkadir Haji defended the audit, stating that the Sports Ministry had good intentions.

Senator Getrude Musuruve advocated for action against culpable individuals, rather than disbanning FKF, while Senator Johnson Sakaja cautioned against disbanding the body, warning that it could lead to a ban by FIFA.

The Senate proceedings came amidst a torrent of criticism on social media, with several Twitter hashtags urging Amina to back down on the audit.
