On Friday morning, detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SPCU) engaged in a shootout with three suspected thugs in Marurui, Kasarani, resulting in the death of the suspects.
The incident occurred when officers spotted a white Toyota Fielder KBX 441X, which had been reported stolen, along the road. When the suspects were challenged to stop, they shot at the police, prompting a shootout. Police killed all three occupants.
Confirming the shooting, Kasarani OCPD Peter Kimani stated that they recovered an AK 47 with several rounds of ammunition.
Separately, two suspected thugs were shot dead along Waiyaki Way on Tuesday after officers on patrol witnessed four men robbing motorists. The officers managed to shoot two dead, while the other two accomplices escaped.
A toy pistol and seven mobile phones were recovered from the slain suspects. The bodies were taken to the city morgue for postmortem and identification.
