On July 5, 2019, fashion brand Mia Kora unveiled its second Frame it or Wear it Exhibition, a showcase of luxury scarves inspired by the beauty of Kenya's wildlife and nature.
The exhibition, which combined luxury with showcasing local wildlife, featured scarves hand-painted by artist Priya Shah in collaboration with renowned photographer Gurcharan Roopra and jewellery maker Shikhazuri.
The images captured the beauty of the natural flora and fauna of the Amboseli Game Reserve, with each scarf featuring a unique watercolour painting.
According to Priya Shah, the team decided to use nature as the theme for this year's exhibition because of its impact on the world ecosystem.
"We are going natural this year, there is a lot of Green," Shah said. "Gurcharan took the images and we sat down and selected images that we thought would make stunning wearable art. I then created a series of watercolour paintings from them which we also turned into scarves."
The exhibition aimed to get artwork out of its frame and make it more accessible as an accessory, with the scarves serving as a statement piece for women.
The scarves were made from two different fabrics: 100 percent Poly Buttersilk and 90 percent Modal 10 percent Cashmere.
Mia Kora, a fashion brand with a presence in Kenya and the UK, has been creating luxury scarves that are worn as statement pieces.
