Chelsea's new manager, Frank Lampard, is set to take the reins at Stamford Bridge, following in the footsteps of Maurizio Sarri. The 13-year Chelsea veteran, who won three Premier League titles and the Champions League, was confirmed as the new manager on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
According to his uncle, Harry Redknapp, a seasoned English football manager, Lampard will expect nothing but the best from his players. Redknapp, who has managed several English clubs, including West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, praised Lampard's work ethic, saying he is 'the best trainer I have seen in all my years of football.'
Redknapp recalled Lampard's training sessions, saying, 'He trained like nobody you have ever seen.' He added, 'He will expect the same level of effort and commitment from the players at Chelsea. He will demand it. If he gets that, then Chelsea are in for a great time.'
Chelsea, who finished third in the league last season, will kick off their 2019-20 campaign against Manchester United on August 11.
