Published on July 5, 2019, Gor Mahia, the defending champions of the Kenya Premier League, have begun early preparations for the new season by bolstering their squad with eight new players.

The club has promoted three players from their academy to the senior team, including Alphonce Omija, a central defender, Caleb Omondi, a goalkeeper, and Samuel Osoo, a striker.

These players have been instrumental in Gor Mahia Youth's success in the Football Kenya Federation National Division II Eastern Zone league and have signed long-term contracts with the club.

Francis Kahata, a key player who left the club, had already expired his contract, but the promotion of these three players was seen as a significant move by the club.

Following the promotion of the three youth players, Gor Mahia beefed up their squad with five more players, including Tobias Otieno, a former Sony Sugar midfielder, who has signed a one-year renewable contract.

Other new signings include Abadalla Shura, a right-back from Sony Sugar, who has penned a four-year contract, and Elvis Ronack, a centre back from Nzoia Sugar, who has also signed a four-year deal.

The club has also announced the capture of Dennis Oalo, last season's National Super League's top scorer, and Curtis Wekesa, a fleet-footed winger from Nairobi Stima.

However, the club still faces the risk of losing more crucial players, including defender Harun Shakava and Rwandese striker Jacques Tuyisenge, whose contracts are on the verge of expiring.
