Dennis Itumbi, the State House digital director, has been detained for five more days as detectives investigate a letter alleging a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
Itumbi was arrested on Wednesday while having lunch in Nairobi and is accused of posting the letter in a WhatsApp group of the Tangatanga team allied to Ruto.
During a court session on Thursday, Itumbi told the magistrate that he had information about a meeting held at Hotel La Mada, where the agenda was to kill the Deputy President.
He claimed to have a video to prove his claim, but the magistrate did not comment on the plea.
Several MPs who attended the court session to show support to Itumbi said they want a Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary investigated over the alleged assassination plot.
Itumbi works at the DP's office and is being represented in court by lawyer Katwa Kigen.
