On Thursday, July 4, 2019, Safaricom interim Chief Executive Officer Michael Joseph delivered an emotional tribute to his late colleague Bob Collymore at the latter's memorial service held at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.
As Joseph struggled to read Collymore's tribute poem, he revealed that they had agreed that whoever survived the other would read the poem 'My Funeral' at each other's funeral.
Joseph broke down a couple of times while reading the poem, but continued with the eulogy, describing Collymore as the 'bravest man I have ever met' with an 'enormous sense of humour'.
The memorial service was attended by Collymore's family, friends, and a host of political leaders, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
