Bob Collymore Memorial Service ¶
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Uhuru Kenyatta were among dignitaries at the memorial service for the late Bob Collymore at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
Blair was spotted next to President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at the service.
Collymore's wife, Wambui Kamiru Collymore, was also in attendance, surrounded by family members, friends, government and corporate dignitaries, and members of the public who wished to celebrate the former Safaricom CEO.
British Envoy to Kenya Nic Hailey said Collymore's contribution to Kenya is immense, as through his leadership, Safaricom transformed lives across the country.
Former Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph read a poem that Collymore had requested be read at his funeral, saying 'To the man I loved, fare well my friend.'
Other dignitaries who attended the service included Safaricom Chairman Nicholas Ng'ang'a, Radio Africa CEO Patrick Quarcoo, and Nick Read, CEO of Vodafone Group.
Collymore's legacy was celebrated by those who knew him, with many sharing stories and memories of their time with him.
As part of the tribute, interim Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph read a poem that he said was one of Collymore's last wishes.
