On July 4, 2019, Wambui Kamiru, the widow of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, delivered a poignant tribute to her late husband at his memorial service at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.
Collymore, who passed away on July 1, 2019, at his Nairobi residence, succumbed to cancer and was cremated on July 2, 2019, at the Hindu Crematorium in Kariokor, as per his wish.
Wambui's tribute was a heartfelt expression of her love and admiration for her husband, who she described as a 'different sort of person.' She shared a speech that Collymore had written for young kids, which he had delivered in 2013, and adapted it to suit the occasion.
Collymore's words, as read by Wambui, emphasized the importance of being considerate, kind, and proud of oneself. He advised young people to never be ashamed of who they are, never apologize for what they have, and never let others decide how they should feel about themselves.
Wambui's tribute was a powerful tribute to her late husband, who had left a lasting impact on those who knew him. The memorial service was a celebration of Collymore's life and legacy, and Wambui's words captured the essence of his spirit.
