On July 4, 2019, Harambee Stars defender Musa Mohammed made headlines for all the wrong reasons after his defensive gaffe against Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
Senegal hammered Stars 3-0 in their last Group C encounter, dashing the team's hopes of progressing to the next round of the tournament.
Former Gor Mahia star Musa Mohammed has now come out to admit his blunder cost the team, asking Kenyans to pardon him for the mistake.
Speaking to Goal moments after the team arrived from Egypt, Mohammed said, "It was my mistake, I did a wrong calculation and Sadio Mane beat me to the ball."
He continued, "I want to ask Kenyans to forgive me, it is part of the game and there is nothing I could do after I lost the ball. I hope Kenyans will forgive me and I promise to do my best if given a chance to play for the team in the future assignments,"
Despite the loss, Mohammed observed that the tournament presented a learning experience, promising to make amends in future appearances for the team.
