On July 4, 2019, the Kenyan shilling made significant gains against the dollar, a trend attributed to banks unwinding their long dollar positions in response to reduced demand from oil and merchandise importers.
According to commercial banks, the shilling was quoted at 102.10/30 per dollar at 0638 GMT, a slight improvement from the previous close of 102.25/45.
Refinitiv data showed that the shilling had gained by 0.68 percent during the previous session, a notable increase.
