On July 29, 2019, Bob Collymore's close friends, including Radio Africa's CEO Patrick Quarcoo, visited him in his final days. Quarcoo has since penned a heartfelt tribute to his dear friend.

Quarcoo's moving tribute captures the essence of Collymore's remarkable life and legacy. He writes, 'Once in a lifetime cometh a man who against all expectations wins and succeeds wildly in making friends, family and a whole nation love, respect and esteem him.'

Collymore's journey to success was not without its challenges. Quarcoo notes that he had two strikes against him when they first met: filling the shoes of the legendary Michael Joseph and another personal challenge that Quarcoo chooses not to discuss.

However, Collymore did not simply fill Michael's shoes; he created his own path. He sewed his shoes with relentless commitment to excellence and hard work, creating a new purpose for Safaricom: to serve the customer, serve the society, change lives, and build employees.

Collymore's impact extended beyond his professional accomplishments. He forged deep and lasting bonds with his friends, including Quarcoo, who found himself part of a close-knit group of leaders. They shared a love for African art and jazz, and Collymore's talents extended to painting and playing the saxophone.
