On Thursday, July 4, 2019, Nairobi's All Saints' Cathedral will host a memorial service for the late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, who passed away on Monday, June 1, 2019, at the age of 61.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, Collymore's widow Wambui, and Ashley Chepkorir, a student at the Safaricom Foundation Academy, are among those scheduled to pay tributes to the celebrated corporate leader.
Notable public figures attending the memorial service include Deputy President William Ruto, former Vice President Kalonzo, and former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi.
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will also be in attendance, along with Kenya Commercial Bank CEO Joshua Oigara, who will read the eulogium highlighting Collymore's life achievements.
Interim Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph is set to read a poem in honour of Collymore, who succeeded him as CEO in November 2010 after serving for 10 years.
The Safaricom Board named Joseph the interim chief executive of the telco on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, after Collymore's passing.
