On July 4, 2019, Harambee Stars players arrived back in the country after a disappointing outing at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The team, coached by Sebastien Migne, lost to Algeria in their tournament before securing a win against Tanzania.
However, their hopes of advancing to the next round were dashed when Cameroon drew with Benin in a Group F match, ending Stars' round of 16 dreams.
Only goalkeeper Patrick Matasi and youngster Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma agreed to be interviewed by the press upon their return, while captain Victor Wanyama faced heavy criticism for his underwhelming performance in the competition.
Wanyama and his teammates will now shift their focus to the African Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, where they are scheduled to face Tanzania later this month.
