On July 4, 2019, a court in Kenya made the decision to release Brian Bera, accused of climbing the state house fence, to his father for medical attention.

According to the prosecution, Brian's parents had suggested Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, and the court was not opposed to this arrangement.

Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi suspended Brian's plea taking until he is well enough, and ordered his father, David Bera, to stand surety for his son and sign a Sh 100,000 personal bond.

The case will be mentioned on August 7, 2019, when the court will be given a report on Brian's condition.

Brian had previously asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to forgive him, but the prosecution stated that they had not been able to reach the President to ask for pardon on his behalf.

Brian also claimed that he had been motivated by a desire to marry and acquire land, as his father had refused to give him an inheritance.

Chief Magistrate Andayi advised Brian to cooperate with his parents and doctors to ensure his recovery, considering his status as the firstborn.

David Bera has sworn an undertaking to the court, promising to take Brian straight to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
