On July 4, 2019, Chelsea Football Club announced the appointment of Frank Lampard as their new manager, marking a significant return to the club for the former England international.
Lampard, who made over 600 appearances for Chelsea and won 11 major trophies with the team, will succeed Maurizio Sarri who left the club for Juventus in the summer.
Speaking after his appointment, Lampard expressed his pride in returning to Chelsea and promised to work hard to bring further success to the club.
"I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach," said Lampard. "I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started," he added.
Chelsea's new manager will be joined by Jody Morris and first-team coach Chris Jones, who will form his backroom staff.
