July 4, 2019 - In a shocking turn of events, six officials in Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu's administration have resigned, citing interference from the governor.
The officials, including Kiambu County chief Officer Faith Njeri Harrison, handed in their resignation letters barely two weeks after Governor Waititu reinstated them.
The resignations come after the officials accused the governor of interfering with their work, with Ms. Harrison earlier resigning after she was transferred following an alleged falling-out over the governor's alleged interference with her docket.
As a protest, Kiambu county government enforcement officers raided the finance department on Monday and changed locks on Monday evening, Tuesday morning.
The director of accounting services, his deputy, and three accountants tendered their resignation letters, equally accusing the governor of interfering with their docket.
