Starehe MP Charles Njagua, popularly known as Jaguar, was freed on a Sh500,000 bail on Wednesday after denying incitement to violence charges. He had spent five days at Kileleshwa police station.
Speaking outside the Milimani court, Jaguar said his sentiments on foreign traders were misunderstood, and he was referring to illegal immigrants conducting businesses in Nairobi.
On June 26, Jaguar was arrested outside Parliament for making xenophobic remarks against foreign traders in Nairobi. He had threatened to invade the premises of foreigners, rough them up, and take them to the airport for deportation.
Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi had warned that if Jaguar's utterances were true, they would attract a maximum term of five years.
However, Jaguar has no regrets and promised to continue fighting for the common man and his constituency. His case will be heard on September 4.
