On July 3, 2019, a devastating tornado tore through Kaiyuan in northeastern China's Liaoning province, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

According to local authorities, the tornado claimed the lives of six people and injured nearly 200, with 43 of the injured being hospitalized.

The tornado struck on Wednesday afternoon, causing significant damage to trees, electricity poles, apartment buildings, and brick walls.

Photos from the scene show the extent of the damage, with buildings reduced to rubble and debris scattered everywhere.

AFP reported on the disaster, citing the Kaiyuan public security bureau's statement on Weibo social media platform.
