Published on July 4, 2019, six Form Four students at St Monica Chakol Girls in Teso South Constituency are being investigated after they were found in possession of marijuana and sex toys.
The County Education Board (CEB) is probing the incident to determine how the students came into possession of the items.
Four of the six students have already been questioned, and the learners have been suspended indefinitely to allow for the investigations.
On Tuesday, the education board led by Professor John Shiundu questioned the school's principal, Sellah Aketch, over allegations that she kept the board in the dark about the incident.
According to Professor Shiundu, the principal defended the decision to suspend the students, citing concerns that it could influence other learners with less than three months to go before the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.
Professor Shiundu also urged school heads in the county to be vigilant to prevent cases of students sneaking hard drugs into schools.
